In the Westerschelde region, maritime vessels are being equipped with independent navigation systems designed to enhance operational safety and resilience. These systems deliver real-time geolocation, rate of turn, and heading data, while also providing alerts for GNSS jamming and spoofing—critical in an era of increasing signal interference. Having undergone over two decades of field testing, this technology is proving increasingly valuable during GNSS interference and provides data for precise docking in harsh conditions for the Vessel Pilots.
Despite the rising concerns, GNSS continues to serve as a foundational pillar in modern maritime navigation.
